The series Flies was in response to the workshop studio at Snow Farms: School of Craft in Williamsburg, MA. I noticed a number of still black shapes in the corners of the screened doors and windows that upon closer inspection turned out to be flies that had become trapped inside the space. I collected and began to use them in direct positive Polaroid collages. The series evolved organically over time during a number of workshops given at the Snow Farms and Norwalk CT studios. Reflection on metaphysics and the nature of existence helped to track, link and map the interconnectedness of the collaged elements, both found and formed.
