found objects and transferred frottage
Printmaking has been a vital component of my studio practice over the course of my career. Through the use of monoprints, alternative photography and site-specific installations, I seek to create an interpretive representation of my subject matter. I am interested in exploring the potentials of printmaking as a time-based medium, capturing the present moment. Sometimes this can be a trace of an object found by chance in the surrounding environment or from past archived pieces or the movement of light or an intuitive gesture activated by a response to place. The accumulation of these gestures, marks and collages that make up each individual monoprint ultimately document the passage of time in the form of a tangible object, the finished print. Printmaking as a medium is a form of documentation that performs the tasks of journaling, archiving, tracing and the nature of an imprint as it becomes manifest in print.
