THE EVOCATIVE MARK TWAIN Inspires the Printmakers’ Network of Southern New England

MARCH 2022 – JANUARY 2023

Location: Second Floor, Exhibit Gallery
Take a virtual tour here

Join The Mark Twain House & Museum’s own Jacquelyn Andrews as she talks with Jim Lee, Margot Rocklen, and Jo Yarrington about the themes, inspiration, and techniques on view in The Evocative Mark Twain Inspires the Printmakers Network of Southern New England exhibit taking place at the Mark Twain House & Museum March 24, 2022 through January 23, 2023.

Jo Yarrington will explain her artistic response to THE ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN, what Twain calls a “mental kaleidoscope”  and the marking of time, through the cyanotype and photogram image rendering processes that record in real-time the sun and the journey of the earth in its spinning, which best encapsulates the imprint of Twain’s work and its thingness in Yarrington’s words.

Virtual conversation via Zoom. Tickets: $5 per stream. REGISTER HERE.

THE EXCHANGE
August 15 - November 1, 2022

Longtime friends and artists, Howard el-Yasin and Suzan Shutandecided in 2022 to partner and become SomethingProjects. It is a nomadic and provisional space providing short-term exhibitions that dually highlight artists as well as introducing communities to new viewpoints and practices by state, regional, national and international artists. As an incubator for ideas it encourages artists to step outside their boundaries and experiment with the intersection of materials, production, presentation and means of engagement with audience and space. Their locations will change, and offer site-specific opportunities.

SomethingProjects is launching its first project, a statewide Connecticut Artist Treasure Hunt called THE EXCHANGE. It includes Geo-tracking & QR codes, adventuring to designated sites accessed through a map on its website.

Get ready to become part of the adventure, which will take place throughout Connecticut starting on August 15 and running daily through November 1, 2022 rain or sun. The map will be accessible on August 15 at: www.SomethingProjects.net, so you can plan for an outing or geo-tracking in the towns participating. Exciting projects in which the public is invited to engage in fun and meaningful ways will take place in the towns of: Beacon Falls, Easton, Fairfield, Darien, Bridgeport, Hartford, Waterbury, New Haven, Meriden, North Haven, Hamden, Branford and Washington Depot. Learn about the artists in your community through participating in the act of discovering what they created for you

ArtsWestchester has transformed the vacant MACY*S space located in the Galleria Mall in downtown White Plains into a large scale POP-UP gallery featuring curated exhibits and artists by Blue Door Art Center, Luangisa African Gallery, Inspiration Group International and New Rochelle Artist Association,as well as "SPECTRUM," a unique collection of individual works by 130 artists curated by Alexander Rutsch Brock. This Arts Fair will also feature live mural painting by three artists during fair hours.

For this exhibition, more than 100 artists worked on 12x9” panels to create works that will be displayed together in a rainbow “spectrum,” creating a harmonious visual flow made from diverse processes, media and ideas. Brock has decided to donate half of all proceeds from the $300 artworks to Planned Parenthood.

The Serious Fun Arts Fair is part of Serious Fun Arts Festival, a 5-day celebration of art in all forms, visual, performance, music and more. The festival is presented by ArtsWestchester in collaboration with I LOVE NY/New Yorks State's Division of Tourism, presenting sponsor Montefiore Einstein, the City of White Plains, White Plains real estate developers and the community of Westchester.
